| 2006 Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay Grand Reserve Monterey/Santa Barbara WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $16.49 (Bottle Barn, Santa Rosa) Type: Chardonnay Principal varietal(s): Chardonnay This wine is an outstanding bargain every year, but I think the 2006 is my favorite yet. Lip-smacking fruit flavors and more complexity and fullness than the also excellent Vintner's Reserve. Rich pineapple and citrus fruit accompanied by spicy nutmeg-like oak notes, toasty and long finish. It has a richness that could almost be cloying except it has the perfect level of bright acidity.
