| 2010 Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay Grand Reserve Monterey/Santa Barbara WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $13.99 (Safeway) Type: Chardonnay Principal varietal(s): Chardonnay A clear winner over the 2010 Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay (not always the case in all vintages), though the 2010 Grand Reserve is itself a couple of steps behind the excellent '09. When first opened, lots of mineral and honeydew melon notes, almost like a Sauvignon Blanc, but in the mouth (and as the temperature rises) more classic Chardonnay notes appear - peach, Meyer lemon, subtle spices.
