| 2004 Chateau Malescot St. Exupery Margaux, Bordeaux, France WB Rating: 91 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $28.95 (K&L) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Bordeaux blend Another instance where I wish I'd purchased about octuple what I did in futures. I opened my first bottle of this tonight, and at age 10 it was exceptional in all respects. Voluptuous, full-flavored dark currant and spicy black cherry fruit on top of a rich core of barbecue smoke and toasty oak. No harsh edges, not heavy or overdone, yet maintains that authoritative, regal mouth feel that great Bordeaux's seem to acquire naturally. Lot of spicy nuances in this wine, which is powerful yet weightless. - HK 2014-05-19 [Back] |
