Slightly transparent purple in color - like a Pinot Noir - with a striking range of aromas and flavors: strawberry, blackberry, drying herbs, roasted root vegetables (beets?), exotic spices. The flavors absorb the alcohol nicely, but this is still a wine to be enjoyed with cheese or hearty main courses.
