| 2012 Mazzocco Vineyards Zinfandel Reserve Seaton Dry Creek, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 16.1% Price at time of purchase: $52.00 (Winery) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zin A rich and savory single-vineyard Zinfandel that I found a little less compelling than the Mazzocco Reserve West Dry Creek Zin tasted recently. Still, the Seaton is full of dark berry and super-ripe plum flavors along with a cassis-like liqueur note and an attractive spicy edge. Very soft and open-knit in the mouth, with a bit of heat from the elevated alcohol. We purchased this at a winery sale for about half the $52 list price, which was a super buy for the quality level.
