| 2015 Pezzi King Zinfandel The Jester Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 89 Alcohol by volume: 15.1% Price at time of purchase: $16.50 (winery) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel This "entry level" Zin from Pezzi King is a pretty darn good imitation of their $60+ single-vineyard Zins. A bit of heat and roughness in the mouth at this youthful stage, but otherwise a really nice, ripe, textbook Dry Creek Zin. Nose and flavors lean towards dried raspberries, figs, plums, with a background of cinammon-like spice. in some ways the nose reminded me of Port. Nice balance of fruit, oak, acidity; this wine will only get better. A terrific bargain at its early-release wine club price, but fairly priced even at $29 retail. - HK 2018-01-29 [Back] |
