| 2002 Rancho Zabaco Zinfandel Reserve Dry Creek, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 82 Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Price at time of purchase: $12.99 (Costco) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel Very earthy, almost funky nose that reminded me of many 10-12 year-old Zins that I've tasted that had slid past their prime. Despite its "low" alcohol level, this wine had a late-harvest taste and feel to it, with flavors of prune and black licorice. Not my style, I'm afraid. Very disappointing after the 2001 Reserve that I thought was excellent. - HK 2005-12-05 [Back] |
