| 2000 Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel Nervo Vineyard, Late Picked Sonoma Valley, California WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 15.7% Price at time of purchase: $24.00 (Ridge ATP selection) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): 91% Zin, 9% Petite Sirah Chocolate-cherry liquor comes closest to capturing the essence of this late-harvest zin. Mildly hot, spicy finish, but overall very nicely integrated. I'm not usually a fan of late-picked zins -- usually they seem to squander the intense boldness of the zin character in an overly alcoholic, sweet product that doesn't really mesure up on the 'port' scale either. | [HTK 2013-05-20] Tasted in May of 2013, this wine was still astonishingly fresh and fruity. Dark berry, slightly prune-like fruit, but not cloying or overly sweet. Great with chocolate dessert. User Rating: 88. |
