| 2000 Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel York Creek Late Picked Napa Valley, California WB Rating: 86 Alcohol by volume: 15.8% Price at time of purchase: $27.50 (from winery) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): 75% Zin, 25% Petite Sirah Despite its 0.7% residual sugar, this wine does not have a sweet feel to it -- to its advantage, in our opinion. It's a solid but stolid Zin. Good dark berry, black cherry, black pepper in the nose, though the nose lacks the perfumed feel of the better Zins. Blackberries and a hint of chocolate in the flavor. Some tannin left in the finish. Good, but like many 2000 Zins we've tasted, it offers no exhilaration. - WB Team 2003-02-28 [Back] |
