| 2007 Rochioli Pinot Noir Estate Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Price at time of purchase: $48.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir This excellent Pinot is entering its prime. Unlike the '06, which I have always found fairly austere, the 2007 Estate Pinot is a rich, full, masculine, chewy Pinot Noir that is a delight. Plum-ruby in color with a touch of transparency, it is loaded with earthy, spicy black cherry and plum fruit, floral notes of dried roses, and a deep, dark, complex core of Dr. Pepper/cola notes and charcoal. Very ripe-feeling in the mouth and finish, and with the usual impeccable Rochioli balance and style. Pricey but not unfairly so in this vintage. - HK 2012-06-23 [Back] |
