| 2010 Rochioli Pinot Noir Little Hill Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 94 Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Price at time of purchase: $68.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir Maybe it was the mood or the meal I had the wine with, but this 2010 Little Hill came across like gangbusters in this tasting. For once I had waited long enough for a Rochioli Pinot to truly open up! This brooding, profound wine had sensationalI depth and length. Earthy melange of Burgundian Pinot fruit (dark bing cherry, over-ripe strawberry, dark currants, ...) and a superb perfume that reflected the flavors but also showed an ethereal hint of violets. Perfectly balanced and mature-tasting, virile and full of life. Beethoven more than Mozart. - HK 2016-08-10 [Back] |
