| 2001 Rosenblum Syrah Jingalu Special Artist Series McLaren Vale, Australia WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 14.2% Price at time of purchase: $22.00 (from winery) Type: Syrah Principal varietal(s): Syrah Tasted against the England-Shaw 2000 Syrah, the 2001 Jingalu was distinctively less burly. This wine, made from Australian grapes, displays a youthful purple color and an attractive combination of spicy cassis fruit with bay leaf and vanilla, in an elegant, medium-bodied format. Though not particularly tannic, this wine is well-balanced and could improve with a year or two of aging. Lovely label, from the painting "Feather Foot Man" by an Australian aboriginal artist named Jingalu. - WB Team 2003-02-13 [Back] |
