| 2000 Savannah Chanelle Vineyards Muscat Paso Robles Paso Robles, California WB Rating: 86 Alcohol by volume: 12.5% Price at time of purchase: $15.00 (from winery) Type: Muscat Principal varietal(s): Muscat Wines like this delight from Savannah-Chanelle are wonderful apertifs and go nicely on a warm summer day with cold fruit, or by themselves for that matter. This wine had a sunny disposition with a forward floral and white-fruit-scented nose, crisp fruit flavors with a touch of vanilla custard, good balancing acidity, and a clean, uncomplicated finish. I think of Paso Robles as one of the heartlands for heavy-duty Zins and Syrahs, not light and elegant wines like this one, so this wine was a real surprise. - HK 2002-06-01 [Back] |
