| 2009 Seghesio Marian's Reserve Alexander Valley, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 14.8% Price at time of purchase: $42.00 (winery) Type: Zin blend Principal varietal(s): 34% Zinfandel, 33% Petite Sirah, 33% Carignane Big, heavy, somewhat rustic red with nice density of dark berry and cherry fruit. Very earthy. Tannic mouthfeel and finish but mouth-filling and rich. I would have identified this as a heavy-duty Carignane; the fruit and life that I find in the Seghesio Zins seems pretty submerged here.
