| 2007 Siduri Wines Pinot Noir Sonatera Vineyard Sonoma Coast, California WB Rating: 91 Alcohol by volume: 14.1% Price at time of purchase: $29.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir Lovers of lean Burgundies will probably find this fruit bomb out of their comfort zone, but it is a major winner for lovers of pure, fruit-dominated, beautifully extracted California Pinot Noir. From a vineyard located near Sebastopol (but in the Sonoma Coast rather than Russian River appellation), it is soft as velvet yet deep and long and possessed of terrific fruit density - more sweet dried cherry and plum than tart cherry or pomegranate. Yet there is no sense of over-ripeness or hotness or clumsiness in this wine whatsoever. It's wonderfully balanced and fills out all the nooks and crannies in the taste buds with ripe fruit and complex musky/earthy/smoky notes. [Purchased on sale at winery.] - HK 2010-04-03 [Back] |
