| 1997 Verget Saint-Veran, Tete de Cuvee Saint-Veran, Burgundy, France WB Rating: 84 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $13.00 (Premier Cru) Type: Chardonnay Principal varietal(s): 100% Chardonnay Good wine, but a bit disappointing because we always expect a miracle from Verget's inexpensive white Burgundies. Soft mouth feel, without the acid and spirit of the typical Verget. Pleasant, round flavors of butter and butterscotch, a touch of peach, but little of the minerality normally found. Actually, maybe a little past its prime. - HK 2000-09-15 [Back] |
