| 2013 White Rose Pinot Noir The Neo-Classical Objective Willamette Valley, Oregon WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 12.6% Price at time of purchase: $80.00 (Winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir Highly-perfumed aromatics here, very Burgundian, with strawberry, rhubarb pie, and a savory, earthy, spicy core. But in the mouth quite delicate and a little shallow, with more cold-climate leafy notes emerging. Nice Pinot, but like virtually all the White Rose wines I sampled, wildly overpriced. (And unfortunately they also have one of the most pretentious wine tasting rooms I've ever visited: There is only one way to make Pinot, i.e. their way; California Pinot's are all overblown and inferior and taste like Zinfandel; alcohol levels above about 13% are beneath contempt, etc. A little bit of that went a long way.) - HK 2017-09-02 [Back] |
