2001 AbadiaRetuerta Rivola Sardon de Duero, Spain WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $10.99 (K&L) Type: Spanish red Principal varietal(s): 60% Tempranillo, 40% Cabernet This rich and balanced wine is an excellent buy. Deeply colored -- even the bubbles are purple. Seems more elegant and less top-heavy than other vintages of this wine I've tried in the past. Very Zin-like feel to it. In fact, tasted next to my benchmark in inexpensive Zins, the Rosenblum Cuvee XXV, it seemed the more interesting and complete wine. The nose and flavors display sweet oaky vanilla notes along with dark cherry and kirsch liqueur. - HK 2004-05-24 [Back] |
