| 2006 Bella Syrah Sonoma County Dry Creek, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Price at time of purchase: $28.00 (Winery) Type: Syrah Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel Made from a blend of Lilly Hill and Belle Canyon fruit, along with grapes from the Sonoma Coast, this is exceptionally good wine for a "generic" Sonoma County appellation. Lovely deep, opaque purple color, big spicy aromas and flavors hinting at roasted meat, ground black pepper, black berries, vanilla, and blueberry crisp. Full-bodied but soft and (to my taste buds, anyway) ready to drink right now. It will be interesting to taste the single-vineyard Syrahs coming out later. - HK 2009-06-02 [Back] |
