2007 Bella Zinfandel Belle Canyon Dry Creek, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 15.0% Price at time of purchase: $35.00 (Winery) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Zinfandel A lot of Zinfandels would be edging past their peak at age 7, but Bella Zins typically are just coming into their own. The 2007 Belle Canyon is made in the usual Bella style - taut, somewhat austere, and obviously long-lived. This wine has Interesting though restrained flavors of dark berry, fig, earth, herbs. Tasty but not especially big in the mouth, with a dry and dusty finish. It's a matter of preference - some people love the reticence and austerity of this style of Zin, though I tend to like Zins with more fruit and charm and often find that I admire Bella wines more than I enjoy them. Good wine, just outside my affection zone. - HK 2014-01-26 [Back] |
