2008 BenMarco Malbec Mendoza, Argentina WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 14.0% Price at time of purchase: $14.99 (Costco) Type: Malbec Principal varietal(s): Malbec This youthful, promising red is made from 90% Malbec and 10% Bonarda and sees 50% new oak. Complex set of aromas and flavors: blueberry/raspberry fruit tinged with briary/leafy/tobacco notes as well as a touch of mocha. Broadens and softens considerably with airing - a good sign for the future. At this point a bit tight, but it's a serious wine for the money. - HK 2010-09-20 [Back] |
