2000 Bonny Doon Carignane Old vines California WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 14.3% Price at time of purchase: $15.00 (Bonny Doon) Type: Carignane Principal varietal(s): Carignane We're becoming major believers in Carignane-based wines, having had several excellent ones recently. Despite its high alcohol, this old-vine red is very French-like: firmly structured, elegant, nicely tannic. The spicy, full dark cherry and blackberry fruit is beautifully ripe and sweet, the finish clean. And the Randall Grahm label notes are entertaining as always. An excellent buy if you can find it. - WB Team 2001-07-24 [Back] |
