2000 Bodegas Borsao Campo de Borja Campo de Borja, Aragon, Spain WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 14.0% Price at time of purchase: $5.00 (Premier Cru, Emeryville CA) Type: Spanish red Principal varietal(s): 75% Grenache, 25% Tempranillo One of the best red wine buys in recent memory. This wine easily stands up to many wines in the $20 range. Dark purple color, full body, excellent fruit-laden finish with round tannins. Pure nose and flavors of deep red fruits, vanilla, spiced cherries, tar, ripe blueberries. One taster described the flavors as the "raspberry part of a peach melba." A mind-boggling bargain if you can find it. This wine was recommended in Parker's newsletter, and finding this wine alone is more than worth the price of a subscription! - WB Team 2001-07-20 [Back] |
