This is a serious wine for $8! Inky color, beefy flavors reminiscent of a rich Languedoc Carignane or an earthy Russian River Zin: jammy black cherries, minerals, earth, smoke, hints of licorice. Still very tannic and can only improve. Amazingly good buy from the unknown (to us) region of Yecla in Spain. Definitely benefits from sitting in the glass for a few minutes; may be rated a point or two low because of its youth. - WB team 2003-02-11
