2007 Cesari Amarone Classico Valpolicella, Verona, Italy WB Rating: 93 Alcohol by volume: 14.0% Price at time of purchase: $0.00 (gift) Type: Zinfandel Principal varietal(s): Corvina Veronese, Rondinella Deep, youthful purple in color. Density and richness reminded me of a top-end Napa Cabernet. Beautifully balanced - despite being essentially made from raisins, there is no hint of over-ripeness. Mouth-filling flavors of dark currants, ripe plums, tobacco, and spices cascade over the taste buds. Lovely, layered mouth feel, terrific balance. The best Italian red I've tasted in a long time. - HK 2017-12-31 [Back] |
