2002 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Kabinett Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 8.5% Price at time of purchase: $7.99 (Premier Cru) Type: Riesling Principal varietal(s): Riesling I'm sure this is the entry-level Christoffel Mosel, but it is a delightful wine. At 8.5% alcohol it is a refreshing change from the mouth-corroding heavy-duty reds we so often pour down. But forget about the low alcohol level - this wine has a wonderfully clean, precise feel to it with subtle notes of citrus, pear, minerals, and coconut and the perfect level of balancing acidity. Normally I like whites cool rather than chilled, but this one seems to be most bracing and refreshing - and best as a food wine - at refregerator temperature. - HK 2006-12-14 [Back] |
