2007 David Coffaro Petite Sirah Dry Creek, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 15.0% Price at time of purchase: $25.00 (winery) Type: Petite Sirah Principal varietal(s): Petite Sirah This wine has always been approachable, even in its youth (unlike a lot of other Petite Sirahs). But at age 5 it has really opened up and displays a lovely perfume of black raspberry, flowers, chocolate, vanilla, and baking pie crust. In the mouth the earthiness comes through on top of the tasty berry notes. Not quite as interesting and layered in the mouth and finish as the nose promises, but this is a very good Petite Sirah that's drinking perfectly right now. Retail price estimated - this wine was purchased for about $15 in futures, for which David Coffaro has an admirably well-priced policy. - HK 2012-08-08 [Back] |
