| 2007 Copain Wines Roussanne James Berry Vineyard Paso Robles, California WB Rating: 90 Alcohol by volume: 14.4% Price at time of purchase: $35.00 (Winery) Type: Rhone-style White Principal varietal(s): Roussanne Copain is located on a hillside just off Eastside Road in Windsor, with a sweeping view of the Russian River Valley below. Yet, interestingly, Copain makes no Russian River wines, concentrating instead on vineyards from Mendocino and the Central Coast. This superb Rhone Ranger white comes from a vineyard in Paso Robles. Complex nose has notes of white flowers and honey and, especially as it warms up a bit, apricot, ripe white fruits, butterscotch, and roasted nuts. Crisp, clean, balanced mouth feel and finish. Expensive but worth the plunge. - HK 2010-03-03 [Back] |
