2013 Chateau Coutet Barsac, France WB Rating: 92 Alcohol by volume: 14.0% Price at time of purchase: $36.75 (K&L Auctioin) Type: Sauternes Principal varietal(s): Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon Like other Coutet's I have tried, this is beautifully structured and "light" (as Sauternes go), with plenty of acid to keep it from being cloying. It is not super-unctuous or heavy, or even particularly botrytis-driven. But gorgeously rich and complex, with suggestions of honeyed citrus, apricot, roasted nuts, and sweet spiciness tweaking the taste buds. Lingering finish - but again, not in the super-sweet vein. - HTK 2018-07-21 [Back] |
