2012 De Ponte Cellars Pinot Noir Dundee Hills Dundee Hills, Oregon WB Rating: 86 Alcohol by volume: 13.9% Price at time of purchase: $44.00 (Winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir Somewhat disappointing; I liked this wine better when I tasted it in the tasting room. May develop further, but at this stage a somewhat chunky, straight-ahead, flavorful, but overpriced Pinot. Earthy dark raspberry fruit with touches of pine resin and spice. Rustic rather than elegant in the mouth; again, maybe it will develop, but it's pretty hard to read its future at this point. Would be a great buy at $20 - $25; there's a lot of superior competition at the $44 price point. - HK 2017-01-16 [Back] |
