Another excellent Syrah from Dehlinger, though just a step down the ladder from the superb '96 Estate Syrah. Still possesses an opaque youthful purple color at age 7, with an appealing blackberry, blueberry, dark currant, and spice nose, teeth-staining flavor density, long berry-infused finish. Delicious, meaty Syrah that's at its peak right now. - HK 2003-04-14
