1997 Dehlinger Pinot Noir Goldridge Vineyard Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 91 Alcohol by volume: 14.2% Price at time of purchase: $25.00 (Library wine) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): 100% Pinot Noir Another decadently rich yet silky and balanced wine from Dehlinger. Deep purple color, intense, complex aromas and flavors of plums, fruit chutney, dark cherry preserves, and spicy oak. Vaguely reminiscent of a Corton Grancey tasted in our youth, with that "essential plumminess" (to quote an old wine hero named George Burtness) of the great Burgundies. (Note: this wine was tasted again in Dec. 2002 and was still delicious, but definitely beginning to show its age. Drink up.) - HK 2001-01-07 [Back] |
