Black cherry and licorice-like nose, similar to a Carignan. Chunky and rustic feeling in the mouth, with reasonable grip, lots of tannin, but absolutely no flavor. If the flavors cracked open a little this could be a mid-80's wine, but since Dolcetto's are typically made to be drunk young, it's not clear that this will happen here. Puzzling wine. - HK 2002-06-26
