| 1997 Domaine de la Madone Beaujolais Villages Reserve|
Beaujolais Villages, France
WB Rating: 84
Alcohol by volume: 13.0%
Price at time of purchase: $9.00 (North Berkeley Wine Imports)
Principal varietal(s): Gamay
Medium ruby color, medium body. Berry fruit running the gamut from raspberry to strawberry. A strong hint of spiced peaches, also. Good balance, drinking nicely at this "advanced" age for a Beaujolais. Like most Beaujolais, not a long finish nor great complexity; otherwise it would be rated higher. Beaujolais of this quality and at this price are a tremendous bargain since they offer such an interesting range of flavors and rarely disappoint in the fruit department. - HK 2000-11-30
