Donatiello Winery Chardonnay Middle Reach Russian River, Sonoma, California WB Rating: 86 Alcohol by volume: 14.2% Price at time of purchase: $38.00 (Winery) Type: Chardonnay Principal varietal(s): Chardonnay I expected more oomph from this wine, which comes from prime Russian River territory and is treated to 50% new oak. Fairly full in the mouth, but also a little heavy-feeling and enervated. Tropical fruit flavors, but these are dominated by more oaky tones, and there doesn't seem to be enough acid to give it a lively feel.
