Old-vine, unfiltered Beaujolais. Remarkably deep and flavorful for a "generic" Beaujolais. Selected and imported by North Berkeley Wine Imports, who have the highest standards for wines they handle. Deep red/purple color. Forward nose of raspberry and violets, pleasant medium-bodied mouth feel, slightly tart finish. The antithesis of the insipid, cloying "soda-pop" Beaujolais cliche. Serious, nicely balanced wine, excellent with food. A pleasure and a bargain. - HK 2000-06-20
