1999 Pierre et Paul Durdilly Beaujolais "Les Grandes Coasses" Reserve Beaujolais, France WB Rating: 84 Alcohol by volume: 12.0% Price at time of purchase: $9.00 (North Berkeley Wine Imports) Type: Beaujolais Principal varietal(s): Gamay A very fruity generic Beaujolais, made from old vines, though we liked the '98 better -- it had a bit more complexity and structure. The '99 has intense strawberry nose and flavors and an almost sweet mouth feel because of the fruit. This wine is most enjoyable if served slightly chilled, might be a bit cloying if served at room temperature. A fairly good buy though you can do better even at $9.
