2007 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir Devil's Gulch Vineyard Marin County, California WB Rating: 89 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $58.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir This is pretty much the opposite of a perfumed, feminine-style Pinot. Exotic wild berry fruit with a strongly earthy undertone, fairly youthful and muscular mouth feel even at age six. Full-flavored with an attractive level of complex Asian spices. When first opened, a resiny and almost green edge to it, but this mellowed quickly. Devil's Gulch is always a really interesting and tasty Pinot Noir, though of all the D-G Pinot's it's the one closest to the edge of my comfort zone. - HK 2013-10-14 [Back] |
