| 2009 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir Devil's Gulch Vineyard Marin County, California WB Rating: 86 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $58.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir Solid Pinot - D-G is incapable of producing anything less - but in my opinion far from the silky, complex, deep, fruit-filled Pinot's that D-G normally produces. The '09 Devil's Gulch has earthy wild berry flavors touched with some slightly green-tasting stemmy elements. Rustic texture, somewhat angular and muddled at this point in its development. Nice wine, but wildly overpriced at $58 per bottle retail. I far prefer the "generic" D-G Dutton Ranch bottling at about $20 less per bottle. - HK 2014-09-10 [Back] |
