2002 Elderton Shiraz Barossa Valley, Australia WB Rating: 92 Alcohol by volume: 15.0% Price at time of purchase: $24.99 (K&L) Type: Shiraz Principal varietal(s): Syrah (Shiraz) This is a monster Shiraz. Totally opaque inky appearance. Huge nose of roasted meat, dark berry compote, flowery herbs, sweet spices. Seamless and extremely rich mouth feel with blackberry liqueur density. Long finish. The high alcohol disappears behind a wall of flavor. I suppose this wine would age, but being Zin-o-philes, this one wouldn't last long in any of our cellars. A bit pricey but worth splurging on. - WB Team 2004-11-05 [Back] |
