This wine, produced in extremely small quantities and raised in oak, is an interesting contrast to the non-oaked ElvenGlade Pinot Gris. The oak manifests itself in toasty, creamy notes in the aromas and flavors, and more of a spicy apple than citrus fruit component. Much oilier in mouth feel than the crisp non-oaked version. The tasting group was divided about evenly in terms of preference between the oaked and non-oaked versions. It will be interesting to taste this wine in another year or so when the oak has had time to resolve itself, but it's a tasty wine already. - WB Team 2003-05-23
