2000 Falesco Vitiano Umbria, Italy WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $10.00 (Premier Cru) Type: Italian Red Principal varietal(s): 1/3 each Sangiovese, Cabernet, Merlot We've now tasted the '98, '99, and '00 Vitiano, and this one strikes us as the richest and most complete yet. Rounding into form after being more closed in its infancy, this wine has a richer mouth feel than either of the two previous vintages. Armoas of cedar, cherry, dark fruits and chocolate; flavors also include prunes, dried herbs, and a bit of pepper. At this price, definitely worth seeking out. - HK 2003-03-25 [Back] |
