| 1978 Franciscan Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Napa Valley, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 13.0% Price at time of purchase: $0.00 (Library wine) Type: Cabernet / Bordeaux Principal varietal(s): Bordeaux blend This wine has lost some of its grip after 29 years, but it is still an absolute delight. Aromas dominated by cedar and red berry fruit; flavors of berry, sweet herbs, and earth. The wine has virtually no tannic structure at this point, but otherwise is a complete pleasure to drink and held up just fine against some marinated beef. Very impressive for any wine of this age.
