| 2007 Joseph Phelps / Freestone Vineyards Chardonnay "Freestone" Sonoma Coast, California WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $55.00 (Winery) Type: Chardonnay Principal varietal(s): Chardonnay Drunk in late 2012, this wine is still lively, but is beginning to edge past its peak. Lots of mature Chardonnay character, and quite Burgundian. Much softer and more open than in its youth, its leesy aromas and flavors are highlighted by butterscotch-tinged citrus fruit and a major dose of roasted hazelnuts. Nice balance and length in this wine, but I'd opt for drinking it now and not holding it any longer.
