2012 Hartford Court Pinot Noir Arrendell Vineyard Green Valley of Russian River AVA, Sonoma WB Rating: 95 Alcohol by volume: 14.8% Price at time of purchase: $90.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir Insanely delicious Pinot Noir that's - yes - worth the price. There are layers upon layers of ripe, life-affirming Pinot fruit. Extremely fresh and energetic in the mouth, the wine paints every square inch of the palate with a complex range of flavors - dark cherry, of course, but also definite tinges of black raspberry, blueberry, creme de cassis, pine resin, coconut (!) and an orange peel component in the finish that reminded me of Grand Marnier liqueur. Remarkable aromas as well, with red floral notes and deep Asian spice on top of the fruits. An absolutely gorgeous, memorable Pinot, one of the best I've ever tasted from anywhere. - HK 2018-07-04 [Back] |
