2017 Hartford Court Pinot Noir Land's Edge Vineyard Sonoma Coast, California WB Rating: 91 Alcohol by volume: 14.9% Price at time of purchase: $40.00 (from winery) Type: Pinot Noir / Burgundy Principal varietal(s): Pinot Noir A blend of wines from the Far Coast Vineyard (near Annapolis) and the Seascape Vineyard (in the mountains west of Sebastopol), this is, I suppose, a bridge between the excellent Russian River appellation offering and the higher-priced single vineyard Pinot's. But I didn't find much of a gap between this wine and any of the single vineyards - it is a delight even if it is a little less perfumed and a little more monolithic. Rich, almost chewy flavor density, that full, velvety Russian River texture, and a delicious range of flavors ranging from raspberry (like a baking pie) and blueberry to maraschino cherry. Nice doses of lavender-like floral notes and sweet spices. Unbelievaby good price, on a special Christmas sale at MyWineStore.com; normally it is $50, and is basically a bargain at that price too. - HK 2020-12-04 [Back] |
