Even lower-priced than the excellent 2006, the 2007 Pillar Box Red is another no-brainer bargain. Similar to the 2006 in power and structure, it's a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet, and Merlot with a rich and layered feel. More dominated by the Shiraz in 2007 than in 2006, there are big doses of blueberry and currant fruit, with subtle undertones of herbs, meat, and black pepper. Rich, long, still a bit sharp on the attack, but overall a remarkable deal in red wine. As the label says, it benefits from being decanted. - HK 2009-09-20
