2003 Hewitson "Miss Harry" Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre Barossa Valley, Australia WB Rating: 87 Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Price at time of purchase: $17.99 (K&L) Type: Shiraz Principal varietal(s): 47% Grenache, 40% Shiraz, 13% Mourvedre Rhone-grape blend that had the leathery, somewhat tough-textured feel of some pure Mourvedre wines we've tried in the past. We didn't like it quite as much as the Shiraz-dominated Australian reds with the velvet flow of fruit and more open-knit texture. But this wine is still plenty tasty. Lots of gamey cherry/licorice fruit, rich in the mouth with a full finish. - WB exec team 2004-11-27 [Back] |
