2018 Jack Creek Cellars Pinot Noir Hillside Reserve Kruse Vineyard Paso Robles WB Rating: 91 Alcohol by volume: 14.4% Price at time of purchase: $35.00 (winery) Type: Chardonnay Principal varietal(s): Chardonnay Although its appellation is Paso Robles, this Pinot, like the Jack Creek Chardonnay, is actually from a cool microclimate at the southern tip of the Santa Lucia mountains. It is a bright, assertive, rich, balanced, and satisfying Pinot with ever-changing nuances of ripe plums, dark cherry, raspberry, pressed rose petals, cola, coffee, and sweet spiciness. Excellent, firm core to give the wine structure. I wish I'd purchased a case of this when I had the chance! (When purchased the 2018 was an absolute steal at $35; the 2020 vintage is priced at an unfortunately more realistic price of $66.) - HK 2023-01-27 [Back] |
