2013 Domaine Lafage Cuvée Centenaire Cotes du Roussillon, France WB Rating: 88 Alcohol by volume: 13.5% Price at time of purchase: $13.99 (K&L) Type: Rhone-style White Principal varietal(s): Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Roussanne As in previous vintages, this bottling is an exceptional bargain. While young and undoubtedly still developing, it has a level of focus and purity unusual in a wine in this price range. When opened (and too cold) it came across like a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, but as it warmed and aired, it deepened in flavor and ripe pear, melon, and citrus notes became more apparent. Lots of minerality in this refreshing white, along with a slight anise tang. It can only get better. Definitely one of my favorite white wine bargains. - HK 2014-11-19 [Back] |
